Kasese Hosts 3-Day ICT and Entrepreneurship Training for SMEs.

The Kasese District ICT Centre, in partnership with Ministry of ICT and National Guidance (MoICT&NG), Enterprise Uganda, and Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT), has launched a transformative three-day ICT skilling and entrepreneurship training from 25th -27th February 2026 aimed at empowering local communities through digital innovation and enterprise development.

The intensive training brings together 40 participants drawn from diverse backgrounds, including youth, women, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and young entrepreneurs representing various Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This inclusive approach reflects a strong commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in Uganda’s digital transformation journey.

The program focuses on equipping participants with practical digital skills essential for today’s competitive business environment. Key areas of training include digital marketing, e-commerce, cybersecurity awareness, business formalization, financial literacy, and leveraging technology to streamline operations.

By enhancing digital literacy and entrepreneurial capacity, the initiative aims to improve productivity among SMEs and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Participants are being introduced to innovative tools and platforms that can help them expand their market reach beyond local boundaries and tap into regional and global markets.

Speaking at the training, organizers emphasized that digital transformation is no longer optional but a necessity for business survival and growth. Through this partnership, stakeholders are working to strengthen Uganda’s innovation ecosystem at the grassroots level, particularly in districts like Kasese where access to advanced ICT training opportunities has traditionally been limited.

The collaboration combines policy guidance from the Ministry, practical entrepreneurship expertise from Enterprise Uganda, and technical ICT training from UICT creating a holistic learning experience that blends technology with business acumen.

A notable highlight of the initiative is its inclusive nature. By deliberately engaging youth, women, and PWDs, the program seeks to bridge socio-economic gaps and promote equitable access to digital opportunities. Participants are being empowered not only with skills but also with confidence, mentorship, and networking opportunities that can accelerate business growth.

The training also encourages innovation, problem-solving, and adaptability qualities essential for navigating today’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

By improving digital participation and enhancing market access, the initiative is expected to contribute to increased incomes, job creation, and sustainable economic development within the region.

As Uganda continues to embrace digital transformation, initiatives like this underscore the power of collaboration between government institutions and enterprise development agencies in building resilient, tech-driven communities.
