Welcome to Hima Town Council
Located in the northern part of Kasese District, Hima Town Council is a fast-growing urban center with a rich history and industrial heritage. Established as a town board in 1972 and elevated to a Town Council in 2003, Hima has become a hub for economic activity, driven by the Hima Cement Factory.
About Us
Hima Town Council covers an area of approximately 5 square kilometers, with a central business district of 1 square kilometer and the remaining land used for residential purposes, economic activities, and agriculture. Our town council is bordered by Kitswamba Sub County to the north, Karusandara Sub County to the south, Mubuku Town Council to the west, and Rugendabara-Kikongo Town Council to the east.
Population
As of the 2014 Population and Housing census, Hima Town Council has a population of 14,702 people, with 7,248 females and 7,454 males. We are eagerly awaiting the updated population figures from the 2024 census.

Our town council is divided into five wards, each with its own unique characteristics and challenges. Our wards are:

Each ward has a town agent responsible for ensuring the delivery of services and addressing the needs of our residents.
Leadership and Governance
Hima Town Council has a fully constituted political leadership, with the Chairperson LC III Hon. Businge Hilda Maate and her Executive committee, Speaker Hon Ramanzani Bikakngabu, and three sectoral committees of council. We also have other functional committees of council, including the Area Land Committee and Health Unit Management Committee for Hima Health Centre III.
Services and Infrastructure
Markets: We have three markets in Hima Town Council: Mowlem market, Hima main (Muhindo) market, and Wabukombi market.
Education: We have three government-aided primary schools and one vocational secondary school. We are working to establish more educational institutions to meet the needs of our growing population.
Health: Our town council is served by Hima Health Center III, which provides essential health services to our residents.
Water: Our main source of water for home use is the National Water and Sewerage Corporation. However, we face challenges in accessing water for crop production and animal husbandry.
Roads: We have a total of 87.577 kilometers of roads, with 10.07 km being tarmac, 39.697 km graveled, and 37.81 km earth roads.
