Welcome to the Department of Health

We’re committed to strengthening the district health system, improving governance, and regulatory frameworks. Our focus areas include:

Reproductive Maternal Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) Services: Providing essential care and support for mothers, children, and adolescents.

Communicable and Non-Communicable Disease Prevention, Mitigation, and Control: Preventing and controlling infectious diseases, promoting healthy behaviors, and managing chronic conditions.

Health Education and Promotion: Educating communities on lifestyle, hygiene, and nutrition to promote healthy living.
 
Essential Clinical Care Services: Providing rehabilitation and palliative care to improve health outcomes.
 
Health Infrastructure Development: Developing health infrastructure using a multi-sectoral approach.
 
Disaster and Epidemic Preparedness and Response: Preparing for and responding to health emergencies.

We have 149 health facilities in our district, including :
85 HC II facilities: Providing basic health services.
51 HC III facilities: Offering more comprehensive health services.
4 HC IV facilities: Providing specialized health services.
6 hospitals: Delivering advanced medical care.

We partner with organizations to support health development in our district, including :
UNICEF: Infrastructure development, HIV/AIDS, and child survival interventions.
WHO: Surveillance and child survival interventions.
GAVI: Immunization and infrastructure development.
Save the Children International: Infrastructure development, RMNCAH, and climate change adaptation.
Baylor Uganda: Comprehensive HIV/AIDS package.
